Letter from the President
Howdy!
My name is Kate Lafferty, I am the President of Kappa Phi Beta Christian Sisterhood for the 2026-2027 school year! When I first came to Texas A&M, I had no clue Kappa Phi existed. I had a very difficult first semester and didn’t focus on the Lord in the way that I should have. I was in a Christian women’s org but I didn’t really feel that it was bringing me closer to Him. At the beginning of my sophomore year, Jacy (my then roommate) and I went to MSC Club Crawl together not knowing we were about to find our college home. Pledging wasn’t difficult or stressful, it was just getting to know a group of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met. When I talked with them, it felt like we’d known each other our whole lives. I met some of the closest friends I’ve made in college through retreat, getting my CCs, and just talking to the other girls. I even found one of my bridesmaids and former roommate, Ashlyn.
To our PNMs: Last year I was blessed with the role of Pledge Coordinator and got to plan recruitment for the girls who were in the same place that you are. I have been blessed enough to continue to lead not just as President, but as a Bible Study Leader. This organization has poured into me for the past two years, and I feel so blessed to get to pour back into it. It has genuinely changed my life for the better and I have made friendships that I know will last for the rest of my life. Rushing was one of the best decisions I could have made in college, I genuinely don’t think I will ever regret it. Kappa Phi renewed my passion for God and gave me a community of girls I know that I can rely on. When you’re looking for a Christ-centered sisterhood, wherever it may be, it’s important for you to prioritize your relationship with God. I am a perfect example of this, sometimes it takes a while to find your people. While you are thinking and praying over joining Kappa Phi, think about what’s important to YOU! Whether we see you once or you’re the girl who’s going to take my place one day, we are praying for you! I hope that Kappa Phi makes as much of an impact on you as it has on me! I’m so excited to meet and get to know every single one of you!
To my sisters: I will never stop praising God for each and every one of you! You have saved me and helped me become closer to the Lord than I ever thought possible. I see God in each one of you and am so completely blessed to call you not just my sisters, but my friends. You have all heard me say this many times, but you are what makes Kappa Phi who we are, not our rules. Thank you for making Kappa Phi my home throughout my college years. I would not be the same without you!
Love,
Kate Lafferty
